Brian R. Michalek is an attorney involved in various aspects of intellectual property practice pertaining to patents, trademarks and copyrights and has litigated intellectual property cases at the District and Appellate Courts. He manages all aspects of patent litigation from pleadings, discovery, claim construction, expert witnesses, and summary judgment through trial and post-trial motions. Mr. Michalek has litigated cases in a variety of technological spaces including telecommunication applications, wireless connectivity, semiconductors, microelectronics, pharmaceuticals and personal medical devices. He also has jury trial experience including taking direct and cross-examinations of both lay and expert witnesses and arguing trial motions. 

Mr. Michalek also has significant experience developing and structuring patent licensing programs and negotiating licensing deals in various technology spaces including the 802.11n wireless Internet standard, organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) and stored value credit cards. His practice also includes conducting and analyzing patent essentiality determinations and negotiating licensing agreements in accordance with fair, reasonable and nondiscriminatory (FRAND) practice. 

Mr. Michalek graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame, and holds a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in Illinois and California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
